Meet Bella (11/14/22)….
This beautiful young lady is a black lab mix surrendered to Pet Search because of a newborn baby’s allergies and health. Bella didn’t understand the recent changes in her life, but has adapted well to her foster family’s home.

Why should you adopt Belle?

* Bellais very outgoing… great with people and other dogs. She is not cat reactive.

* Bella is crate trained and housebroken. She loves laying on her bed with a chew toy.

* Bella is use to being in a fenced yard, but enjoys walks and is getting better daily with leash walking.

*Bella gets very excited when you get home with lots of tail wagging and kisses, but is not the type of dog that jumps on you or barks for attention.

Bella is spayed, current on vaccinations 4DX tested and on flea and tick preventative. She is microchipped and ready to move on to her new adventure.

Meet Stevie 💕🐾

Stevie (11/3/23) is a sweet, goofy, high-energy girl who absolutely loves everyone she meets. She’s wonderful with cats, full of kisses, and happiest when she’s curled up soaking up all the love she can get.

Stevie was born a hermaphrodite, meaning she had both male and female reproductive anatomy. Her surgery was a total success and she is ready to find her forever home.

Stevie can be dog selective and would do best in a home with a submissive dog. As her hormones level out we feel her temperament towards all dogs will improve.

Prior to coming to Pet Search, Stevie was in foster home and loved, long walks, car rides and curling up with her foster mom.

Meet Sparky: 13 Weeks of Pure Energy!

• Personality: Sparky is the definition of “zoomies.” He is a fun-loving, high-energy boy who believes that every morning is a reason to celebrate. Whether it’s a squeaky toy, a fluttering leaf, or a game of chase in the yard, Sparky is all in.
• Intelligence: He’s at that perfect “sponge” age!

Sparky is sharp, curious, and highly motivated by treats, making him an excellent candidate for puppy training classes. He’s already working on his focus and can’t wait to show off how smart he is.
• Social Life: Sparky hasn’t met a stranger he doesn’t like. He loves saying hello to people and would likely thrive in a home with another playful dog to help burn off some of that puppy energy.

Gravy (3/29/20) is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet… this gentle soul only wants to be loved and know that he is safe. He is a lab/black mouth cur mix weighing around 50 pounds. His background story is similar to so many other dogs that Pet Search has rescued from St Thomas.

Gravy was found Thanksgiving morning tied to the entry gate of the shelter. He was discovered by another dog on a morning walk because the owner (s) hid him in the bushes. His teeth have been ground down and has a piece of his tongue missing. Pet Search suspects that he was possibly used as a bait dog on the island. He had severe allergies, and he was scheduled for euthanization. Gravy had been in two foster homes for short periods of time while in St Thomas to get him out of a kennel environment to lessen his anxiety and did very well.
Since arriving on a transport and being in a Pet Search foster home, we have learned a lot about Gravy and his personal needs. We immediately switched his food to non chicken and overnight his skin began to look better and his continuous scratching subsided. He is presently eating Purina One lamb and rice for sensitive skin. His vet visit confirmed he has food allergies and will need dental work in the future which will be coveted by Pet Search.
Gravy is heartworm positive and has a heart murmur due to lack of heartworm preventative while on St Thomas. Gravy has started his heartworm treatment which is fully covered by Pet Search and is on Simparica trio.
Despite the lack of love and health care while in St Thomas, Gravy’s gentle spirit and loving nature shines through. He is good with both dogs and cats and loves kids. He is housebroken, crate trained , walks well on a leash and travels well in a car. Gravy lives for snuggles, kisses on his forehead and bedtime treats! His anxiety now is nonexistent.

Each day we see improvements not only with his skin, but also in his temperament. We see tail wags… happy wiggles…body language that shows that he is comfortable…love in his eyes…hope for a family of his very own.

Chef (3/25/21) is one of our newest additions to our Pet Search foster family! He was part of a pack of 12 small black adults that was dumped on the east end of the island of St Croix. Some were killed by cars before they were captured. The local shelter was going to euthanize them if brought there so Ruff Start St Croix took them into their rescue until they could be flown to the states to find new homes.
Chef is an 11 pound chihuahua mix who is both full of love as well as energy! He loves to sit on your lap or in a chair where he can observe everything around him. He enjoys snuggles and kisses. A little hesitant when he meets new people, Chef warms up quickly and adjusts to his new environment. Chef is wonderful with dogs his size or a little bigger; larger dogs can be intimidating until he feels comfortable. Chef, however, will bark and chase the cats when they run past him, so a cat free home or a home where cats won’t mind being chased occasionally. (He does not hurt them).
Chef is vaccinated, neutered, 4DX tested and negative for Lyme and heartworm as well as microchipped. He can be an escape artist, so a fenced yard or leash walking is important for his safety. We suggest no young children due to his size (11 pounds)
Chef has such an intense sad look in his eyes due to his unknown history of life on the island. However, his future with Pet Search and a new family is changing and he hopes his future could be with you❤️

Hannah (4/8/25) was picked up by local Animal Control as a stray..: when no one reported her as missing, she was turned over to Pet Search foster care. She is an American Staffie mix.
This mid size sweetheart who weighs around 50 pounds is an affectionate girl who loves to run in the yard, chase balls, and snuggle when she is ready to settle down with her foster mom.
Hannah is good with other dogs as long as they accept her high energy and playfulness. She will chase cats when they run from her, but does not hurt them. This happy girl just wants to please and is very responsive to a gentle hand and a soft voice. She is eager to learn and has shown in her foster home that she is smart and easy to train.
Hannah is crate trained and housebroken; vaccinated, spayed, 4DX tested and microchipped. She will do well in a family with children.
Someone tossed this gem of a girl away and it was their loss; she can be your new gem!

Pierogi (8/19/25) is as traditional terrier mix as his namesake in Pittsburgh… this handsome white and brindle boy was picked ip by Animal Control Services in Washington, but never claimed by an owner. Pet Search agreed, once his stray hold was completed, to bring him into our foster home program.
Pierogi loves doing zoomies in the yard, but is equally happy spending quiet times getting loves from his foster mom. He is crate trained, housebroken, and is non destructive regarding his toys and other items in the hone.
Pierogi has been 4 DX tested and is Lymes positive, and is presently on his 30 day treatment. He has bern vaccinated for Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella and is microchipped. He is scheduled for neutering.
Everyone smiles when they see Pierogi and hears his name when we walk… meet this little boy and we guarantee you will also smile when you are greeted with his exuberant kisses and puppy spirit.
