Chef (3/25/21) is one of our newest additions to our Pet Search foster family! He was part of a pack of 12 small black adults that was dumped on the east end of the island of St Croix. Some were killed by cars before they were captured. The local shelter was going to euthanize them if brought there so Ruff Start St Croix took them into their rescue until they could be flown to the states to find new homes.
Chef is an 11 pound chihuahua mix who is both full of love as well as energy! He loves to sit on your lap or in a chair where he can observe everything around him. He enjoys snuggles and kisses. A little hesitant when he meets new people, Chef warms up quickly and adjusts to his new environment. Chef is wonderful with dogs his size or a little bigger; larger dogs can be intimidating until he feels comfortable. Chef, however, will bark and chase the cats when they run past him, so a cat free home or a home where cats won’t mind being chased occasionally. (He does not hurt them).
Chef is vaccinated, neutered, 4DX tested and negative for Lyme and heartworm as well as microchipped. He can be an escape artist, so a fenced yard or leash walking is important for his safety. We suggest no young children due to his size (11 pounds)
Chef has such an intense sad look in his eyes due to his unknown history of life on the island. However, his future with Pet Search and a new family is changing and he hopes his future could be with you❤️
