Starla-Adult-Female

Pet Search received a frantic message about a sweet girl abandoned in the mountains of Virginia… when we saw the photos, we just knew we had to help her!

“This sweetheart of a girl was left in an outside pen on the top of a mountain (no water, food, or shelter) when her family moved & left her to die there!!!! They took the other dog. Thank God for the neighbors who made sure she was fed/watered. She’s a short stack of love.”
Starla had a tumor the size of a grapefruit hanging from her back side-most likely from a mammary gland. She obviously had multiple litters of puppies.
Starla arrived March 30 had her surgery on April 6. The tumor was sent out for a biopsy because of the size and shape, but fortunately it was encapsulated, so it does not appear the cancer has spread. Starla is Lyme positive so she takes her dog doxycycline with no issues.
Starla is very affectionate and wants to be near her “people”… it may be because she was abandoned. She seems to be dog friendly but we are still testing her doggie social skills. She is not cat reactive.
