“Dakota is approximately 2 years old, 42 pounds which means she is grown but full of puppy playfulness. She is from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, a coconut retriever for which Pet Search is well known, which means she is part terrier and who knows what else? Dakota’s first family taught her to potty outside, to not get on the furniture/bed, but she’s not perfect. She thinks waste baskets contain toys, she jumps on people, attempts countertop-surfing, and is a pest around human food. As part terrier she thinks of cats as prey and smaller pets would fare worse, also she chases birds. Fortunately Dakota very much wants to please her human, to be taught limits which means training will be accepted. She sleeps in a crate, and sometimes wants to nap or work on a marrow bone in her den. Dakota claims she once saw the Loch Nest monster (but no one believes her). She walks around proudly with a toy in her mouth and she likes to look out windows as doggie TV. She has full run of her foster house and is submissive with her foster brothers. When Dakota first meets people and dogs she is very shy and reserved and needs a moment before she will trust others. Although physically in excellent shape she was deprived emotionally, so she is especially cuddly, kissy, playful, happy and will appreciate a new home filled with positive attention and affection.
